Fans of Harry Potter are showing more interest in Hogwarts Legacy than in Fantastic Beasts, according to reports
Hogwarts Legacy, the video game set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter, has only been out for less than two weeks but has already captured the hearts and minds of fans around the world. Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games, Hogwarts Legacy allows players to attend an 1800s version of the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Variety reported that the game’s launch has inspired the highest traffic in the Harry Potter community fan platform Fandom in over seven years. The platform reported that Hogwarts Legacy-driven page views surpassed the Eddie Redmayne-starring Fantastic Beasts’ highest spike by 39% in just five days. Warner Bros. Games has announced that as of Tuesday, February 21, the game has seen more than 267 million hours played, 393 million magical plants grown, 242 million potions brewed, and 1.25 billion Dark Wizards defeated. David Haddad, the president of Warner Bros. Games, expressed his satisfaction with the game's reception, stating that “the player engagement is spectacular.” The game's release was met by calls for a boycott over the views of Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling on transgender issues. However, Rowling had no involvement in the concept or writing of the game, and it was developed without her input. Nevertheless, she will receive royalties from the game's sales. Despite the controversy surrounding the game's creator, fans have been thrilled with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Hogwarts and learn more about its history. Hogwarts Legacy's popularity may be a testament to the enduring appeal of the Harry Potter franchise and the magic that it continues to evoke in fans of all ages. As the game continues to be played and explored, fans can look forward to discovering even more secrets and surprises hidden within the walls of Hogwarts. And with the promise of future platform launches, it seems that the wizarding world will continue to capture the hearts and imaginations of fans around the world for years to come.
